Crazy Rich Asians - Worth the hype?

Here's a review of the hyped up movie, Crazy Rich Asians and what I think of it.

Crazy Rich Asians

First of all, I 100% understand why people love it. It's so real, I relate to it so much. For those of you who have yet to watch it, GO WATCH IT. I promise that you'll love the movie as much as I do. I won't be dropping major spoilers here but Awkwafina and Ken Jeong were the best at making me laugh!

The movie reveals that situations where family should ALWAYS come first in an Asian culture gets unhealthy sometimes. In my opinion, what if your family keeps you from being happy? They will pull the 'I know what's best for you' card. Well, what if they don't? It's my life after all. Let me choose my fate. The movie portrays Americans to have the 'do what makes you happy' mindset and yes, it's true. I think there should be a balance of both. You honestly can't control an individual and make them choose between family and happiness. If you're family, you would want what's best for the individual, what makes them happy, instead of trying to separate them from it.

Another thing, the movie shows that we need to respect individuals no matter where they're from. Who cares if you're not the richest person in the country? As long as your heart is in the right place, right? Often times, people who are intimidated that a certain individual would take their place or be better than them are the ones causing all the problems. 

Anyways, I loved the movie so much that I bought the book. Kinda want to see how much the movie deviates from the written or how exact they followed it. Also, to read the other two books after it because I need to know what happens after. 

Final opinions : I rate the movie 11/10 of how realistic it is and that it DOES happen even in this era. If you have yet to watch it, go watch it while it's still in the cinemas. 

I stan an all Asian cast!
