My attempt at saving more money

About 2 years back, this 'Save every 5 bucks you get' saving hack was trending and I can say that it did work for me. I actually saved a lot from it! Not too sure on why I stopped doing it but I feel like giving it a second shot, this time with a strategy.

So from whatever I have left after putting aside money for my savings and my needs, I do have a little bit of extra to wiggle with. Why can't I just save all of my extra, you ask? That's because I will most definitely have the urge to buy useless things that I don't need (I'm working on it okay) or I've allocated that extra to get someone a gift. In order for me to actually want to save money, I know for sure that I will have to be saving for something. And that's what I'll have to figure out. Maybe a short trip with my friends ;)
I'm also figuring out how to train my brain to buy what I need instead of nonsense. Clothing wise, aside from shoes which I LOVE, I only buy and wear basics. My favourite place to shop for basics are Cotton On and Uniqlo. I'm not very strict on myself where I'm only allowed to buy basics but I find myself reaching for those compared to trendy items. Speaking of trendy items, shoes are my main weakness. I go ham and splurge on those. I guess I don't mind because it's a little something to spice up my very basic outfit with.
There will be a post coming up on how I manage my money. Not a pro at it, but who knows, maybe it'll somewhat inspire you to manage your money well too.
