Working from home
Working from home

As you know, I work from home. But as glorious as that sounds there are disadvantages to it too.

The best part of working from home is that I get to work wherever I want to. Be it at a cafe, by the beach, in my bed, wherever you can think of, as long as there's wifi, I can work.

But where there are advantages, there are disadvantages too. For one, you have to constantly motivate yourself and push yourself out of the comfort of your own bed. It's different from being in an office environment where everyone else is working too. I work from my bed a lot, it does take a lot of concentration to stay focused and not get distracted because no one is watching over me. It's completely fine if I take a 2 hour break but what's important is that I meet my deadlines.

Your work shows your effort. I'm not under physical supervision, but the quality of my work shows how much time I spend on it. It's important to plan out your day, make sure what you need to get done, gets done on time. That's how I build trust while working. Deliver your best and you'll be fine.

Another thing is that time management is all on me. I really need to discipline myself and allocate the right amount of time to complete all of my tasks for the day. I do find myself slugging around and postponing tasks that aren't due yet but I do eventually get them done on time. Self discipline is key when working from home because you're not in an environment where everyone else is working (suffering) like you too.

Working from home doesn't mean that you're free from stress. That's something you can't escape from. I do find myself getting all stressed up when I have multiple deadlines to meet for work AND my courses in Uni. There will always be a pressure, it's just how you handle yourself while at it.

A lesson I've learnt : Work is work, don't let it affect you emotionally.

That's all for now.
